The VFW of Ohio charities will be sponsoring “Call Day” for the troops stationed in Iraq.

On this day troops stationed in Iraq will be able to call their loved ones. The VFW charities thru the Operation Uplink program will pay for all phone calls made on this day.  When the soldier makes a call a recording says, ”This call is being paid for by the VFW post in the state of Ohio, thank you for your service.”  We sponsored a day on September 29th, 2008, which is the anniversary date of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  On this date more than one million minutes were used at a cost of $47,000 to our charity.  We will need help from the post charities since we took a large reduction in income when the percentages were changed in November of last year.  To make a donation to this project make the check out to operation uplink.  Earmark the check for Ohio call day and mail it to PO Box 15219, Columbus, Ohio 43215 attn: Robert Funk, State Quartermaster.  When we pay for the call day we summit a list to national headquarters listing all who made contributions.
